Here's another card that I found! As you can see i Here's another card that I found! As you can see it's style is similar to the other two cards I posted yesterday. I remember when designing these feeling really excited that I had managed to combine my own textures with hand painted icons in Adobe illustrator. If you know that program you know it takes a lot of time to work things out and this was definitely a breakthrough moment in getting the program to do what I wanted. 6 years on I still use this technique and actually share it in my upcoming @domestika course which is due out soon.
Anyway I've popped these cards into my shop so if you'd like some you'll find them all at half price on www.melaniechadwick.co.uk or link in profile.

It feels like I've been going back in time the las It feels like I've been going back in time the last few days as I've been sifting through boxes of old stock and card designs that have been hidden away since being in storage. In an attempt to clear them out I've decided to give them another airing and put them on sale at half price -£1.25 you'll find a selection over at www.melaniechadwick.co.uk or click the link in profile to be taken directly to the printed products page. These designs are inspired by fish and tea. Will post some more designs over the coming days...

🌻🌻🌻A few of you have asked me about the m 🌻🌻🌻A few of you have asked me about the music I used in my most recent video so I thought I'd write a post about the band. 🎵They are husband and wife duo, Mac and Laura, based on the North Coast of Cornwall called Our Atlantic Roots. They bring a blend of American and British alt folk mixing their voices and styles to create fresh and rich sounding melodies and harmonies. As soon as I heard them I knew I had to get in touch and ask to use their music in my vlogs. The piece in this clip is called First Light and if you like it go follow @ouratlanticroots and find them on Spotify, soundcloud and YouTube. You can also watch my whole video on YouTube and the link is in description. 🌻🌻🌻

Stills taken from a video just posted to YouTube f Stills taken from a video just posted to YouTube from the Summer time. Finally getting around to going through my footage and sharing the beautiful scenery of Kynance Cove. This was around 7am in August before holiday makers or visitors were up and I had the Cove almost to myself bar a few hundred seagulls. To see me sketching my postcards and in my moleskine too hop over to my YouTube channel now. Link in description.

January 1st 2020 I set out to draw a postcard ever January 1st 2020 I set out to draw a postcard everyday for the entire year…little did I know what kind of year 2020 would shape up to be. 366 days later, 1 Pandemic, 5 bottles of black ink, 30 postcard books, 2 lockdowns, 1 overseas work trip and 14 days in quarantine I have emerged sanity in tack with 366 postcards sketched every day of 2020.
😆
To say it was a little tricky at times is an understatement and to be honest there were moments when I did think what am I doing? Do I really need to keep going with this project? After all we’re living through a pandemic and I’m sure no-one would bat an eyelid if I decided to stop.
🙄
However there was something I discovered about myself this year that pushed me to keep going and that is; when the going gets tough, I dig in and get going. I think there was also a part of me that thought if I could do my postcard then everything was going to be ok. I couldn’t control the news, the virus, the work coming in, other people’s opinions, but I could choose to do my postcard and that was the drive I needed to get it done.
😅
Here are some things that I’ve learnt along the way and thought it would be beneficial to share, mostly to remind myself of what I’ve experienced this year and to take forward into 2021. If you want to read more in depth hop over to my blog on my website.

>>Keep it simple
>>Do a stock take
>>Dress appropriately
>>Don’t wait for the weather
>>Accept the mistakes and finish
>> Don’t be afraid to adapt the project
>>Take a photo and keep accountable
>>Celebrate your milestones

This project was far sweeter because I shared what I was doing with others. It meant I gained cheerleaders and followers who were keen to encourage and support me in my endeavours. Sharing my posts and milestones on IG, facebook and in my newsletter was actually a highlight and I really gained from the kindness of strangers and friends on the internet supporting me through comments, sales and shares.
SO again thankyou to all who shared, bought, commented on this project it has and does mean alot.

I returned to where my project began last year, same view but different house. Scroll to see the first one in this project and for comparison.
I'm so glad the sun came out for this one, and as I type I can hear the rain falling again. This project has stretched me in many ways both positive and negative and I look forward to sharing my thoughts in another post. For now I'm just going to celebrate making it through the year and sketching a postcard EVERYDAY OF 2020!
